Perry released four solo tracks between 20 which were initially supposed to be non-album singles. The title track was released on the 10th of July 2020 as the second single along with the pre-order album. It debuted on the US Billboard Hot 100, at number 40. "Daisies" was released as the lead solo of the album on May 15, 2020. Smile also contains in their tracklist Perry's 2019 independent songs "Never Really Over" and "Harleys in Hawaii." Two songs followed the album: "Daisies," the lead single, released and debuted at number 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 its follow-up, "Smile," released July 10, 2020. Perry described Smile as her "path to the sun, with stories of survival, optimism and love" Musically a pop-album, Smile deals mainly with self-help and motivational themes. It was released by Capitol Records on 28 August 2020, three years after its predecessor Witness (2017). Smile is American vocalist Katy Perry's sixth studio album.
